Our Mission
Our mission is to help faculty discover and select relevant new titles and course readings in the humanities and social sciences from the books published by Canadian academic, literary and university presses.
Who Are We?
Canadian CourseReadings is a non-profit consortium of Canadian publishing houses.
We’re new, and we’re unique!
- Our platform supports a new way to browse, discover, and select reading materials for use in your courses. You can browse our full collection to build a custom collection of course readings.
- We provide you with the information your campus bookstore or copyright office needs for obtaining the collection and distributing it to your students.
- We supply your collection as a digital PDF, and can also supply it in print format.
- Once we receive an order for your collection from your institution, we deliver it digitally.
- Each chapter is priced individually by its publisher, usually at 10-12 cents per page. As you put together a collection, our site tracks the price per copy. We supply copies to your copyright office or your campus bookstore at the price you see.
- This site is free to use. Once you register as a user, you can view unlimited full-text previews of all material on the site and start to build your custom collections.
If your campus bookstore sells your collection to students, they will often add a 20% to 25% margin onto our net price. A typical collection of 10 chapters, each 20 pages long, will have a net price of $20, and might be marked up to $25 for sale to students.
