Feminism and Transformation
The Prairie School for Union Women
From: Labour in Canada Cracking Labour's Glass Ceiling
$1.10
Cindy joins Adriane to descibe two community-based participatory action research projects they initiated with the Prairie School for Union Women’s Steering Committee. The first project explored how well the school was meeting its goals of developing women’s personal and leadership skills, building solidarity among women workers and increasing knowledge about the labour movement. The stories expressed by study participants indicated that, in addition to meeting the goals of the school, the women experienced transformation in personal perspectives and in confidence building. The second study, carried out with funding from the United Association for Labour Education, identified wich PSUW methods and structures contributed to transformation in learners and how that transformation might be sustained.
