Armine Yalnizyan

Armine Yalnizyan is an economist and media commentator specializing in labour markets, social and budgetary policy. She has advised governments at the federal, provincial, and local levels, taught economics at York University, and worked with international NGOs and community-based organizations and coalitions. In 2002, she became the first recipient of the Atkinson Foundation Award for Economic Justice and received the Morley Gunderson Prize in 2003. She is currently director of research with the Social Planning Council of Toronto. She is also a research fellow with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
