The last chapter of Do Androids Dream of Electric Cars? nails home the theme of the whole book, that public transit that works for the climate and for all people is a matter of political priorities, not technological advancement. The chapter covers the question of how public transit systems will be paid for, pointing out false dichotomies common in the answering of that question, and shows how we cannot afford to not invest in public transit, especially considering the coming costs of climate change. The author proposes new ways of covering the cost of public transit, but also points out the need for collective organizing to change the political will to fund transit.
