Mutual Aid, Autonomy and Anti-Authoritarianism: Building an Anarchist Social Work Praxis
Section 15: Social Anarchist Social Work
From: Critical Social Work Praxis
$1.90
This chapter details what an anarchist social work practice might look like. The author reviews relevant theory while focusing on specific aspects of social work that reflect an anarchist perspective. These are, principally, service user involvement or control of services, community-focused social work, relationship-based social work and specifically anti-authoritarian and anti-oppressive practice, radical (politically focused) social work and collectivism. The final part of the chapter focuses on a specific example where an anarchist perspective proves an effective guide to practice.
