Emil Guillermo

Emil Guillermo is an award-winning journalist and commentator, who has worked in TV, radio, and newspapers, from Honolulu to San Francisco to Texas and Washington, D.C., notably as a former host of NPR’s All Things Considered. Self described as a “social wittic,” he has written his “Emil Amok” column in the ethnic media since 1995, a compilation of which, "Amok: Essays from an Asian American Perspective,” won an American Book Award in 2000. His column is now home-based at the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund. He has performed his work as a solo theater artist in Fringe Festivals around the country, and at the Filipino American National History Museum, where he is museum director. He is the host of “The PETA Podcasts.” His vlog and podcasts are at Born in San Francisco to a colonized father and immigrant mother from the Philippines, he grew up in the Mission District and graduated from Harvard.
