Queer and Trans Theory: Understanding “Gender Passing” Among Filipino Trans Women
Section 12: Queer Theories and Transgender Theories
From: Critical Social Work Praxis
$1.40
Fritz Pino builds on the theoretical foundations Greensmith offers and proposes a praxis approach to working with racialized and immigrant trans communities. Pino provides an important discussion of issues such as gender passing and location between desire and normativity. By situating gender passing in a space between desire and normativity, Pino complicates understandings of personal/individual action and the sociopolitical context within which individuals act and make life choices.
