David Schindler is a respected Canadian expert on dams and their impact on the environment. He recently retired as the Killam Memorial Professor of Ecology at the University of Alberta. Schindler’s awards include the Gerhard Herzberg Gold Medal, the First Stockholm Water Prize, the Volvo Environmental Prize and the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement.
