Alan C. Cairns

Alan Cairns is Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo and Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia, where he taught Political Science from 1960 to 1995. He has received honorary degrees from Carleton University, University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia. Officer of the Order of Canada and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, he is the author and editor of books and articles on Canadian politics, historical development of Canadian federalism, the Constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and Aboriginal/non Aboriginal relations. His most recent publication is Citizens Plus: Aboriginal Peoples and the Canadian State (2000).
