KAROLYN SMARDZ FROST is an archaeologist, historian, and award-winning author. Her biography of freedom-seekers Lucie and Thornton Blackburn, I’ve Got a Home in Glory Land (Thomas Allen, 2007), won the Governor General’s Literary Award in 2007. Her newest book, Steal Away Home (HarperCollins Canada, 2017), tells the story of Cecelia Jane Reynolds. Cecelia’s Toronto home was excavated during the 2015 dig in St. John’s Ward. Karolyn is adjunct professor at Acadia University, and Senior Research Fellow for African Canadian History at the Tubman Institute, York University.
