Defines ‘child of the marriage’ and explains the situation of adult children and the obligations of de facto parents, focusing on the effect of differing criteria under federal and provincial legislation, the applicable criteria under the Divorce Act and Federal Child Support Guidelines respecting children under and over the provincial age of majority, the obligations of parents for a child’s illness or disability and the question of post-secondary education or training.
