In Chapter 4, Rana Nazzal Hamadeh examines the unique challenges facing those who assert Palestinian rights in Canada, by examining Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) and what has made it such a transformative part of the movement for Palestinian rights in Canada and beyond. Hamadeh explores how IAW is a comprehensive global movement and draws on her experiences with Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA) at Carleton University. The chapter includes a brief history of the IAW over the past 16 years of existence, its work with the BDS Movement, the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PCACBI), and the movements work and solidarity with Indigenous rights movements across Canada.
