Norman G Letalik is the general counsel and corporate secretary of Volkswagen Group Canada Inc. He recently retired as litigation partner in Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Toronto office, specializing in marine and admiralty law and product liability law. His marine practice consisted primarily of the defence of P&I, marine cargo, multi-modal transport, hull, marine pollution, and personal injury claims, as well as claims against vessels. Mr Letalik also advised on marine insurance disputes (including coverage questions), charterparty and vessel owner disputes. He is a past member of the executive committee of the Canadian Maritime Law Association. He is a former professor at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, Halifax, and a visiting fellow at the National University of Singapore Law School. Currently, he is an adjunct professor in the University of Toronto’s Global Professional Master of Laws program and a research associate at the Marine & Environmental Law Institute, Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. Mr Letalik has published extensively and is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1989 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1998.
