Eric Machum is a Canadian-Venezuelan lawyer with Metcalf & Company in Halifax. His practice focuses on marine, insurance, and transportation law, and he regularly acts on behalf of insurers, shipowners, investors, and charterers. Prior to coming to Metcalf & Company in 2006 he practised with Clyde & Co in Caracas. He holds a law degree from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Venezuela and an LLB and LLM from Dalhousie University, Halifax. Mr Machum has served with Atlantic Towing Limited as a cadet on its coastal and harbour tugs in Canada and worked as a certified scuba diving instructor. He teaches part-time in the Marine Affairs Program, Dalhousie University, and has given intensive training courses on maritime law in Latin America.
