Chapter eight, Organizing Under Suspicion, traces the political organizing activities of the Canadian Arab Federation, including its major organizing goals of influencing Canada’s foreign policy on the Middle East, and responding to police surveillance of organizers. The chapter also covers the Arab community’s support of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the terrorist allegations against the community regarding the 1976 Montreal Olympics attack. It concludes with a discussion of the Arab boycott of Israel.

Houda Asal
Houda Asal holds a PhD in socio-history. Her doctoral thesis was published by Presses de l’Université de Montréal in 2016 as, “Se dire arabe au Canada. Un siècle d’histoire migratoire.” Asal has written and spoken extensively about this history and contemporary racism in Canada and France.
