In the year 1887; a delegation of Nisga a travelled by canoe and steamboat to Victoria in order to discuss their land question with the governor of British Columbia. […] In 1913 they brought it before His Majesty’s Privy Council in London, but it was not until 2000 that they finally achieved what no other First Nation in a Canadian province had achieved before: they were given the rights to about a tenth of their traditional lands.

Mansell Griffin is a Nisga'a citizen from Gitwinksihlkw, British Columbia, Canada. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in First Nations Studies in 2000 and is currently completing his MA in Environment and Management. Mansell Griffin is a member of the Wolf Phatry of the Nisga'a Nation and bears a hereditary title in his family's house. He currently works as the Lands Manager for the Nisga'a Lisims Government in New Aiyansh, British Columbia.
