Sara Dowse
Sara Dowse was born in the US and migrated to Australia in 1958. In 1974 she joined the federal Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet to head its newly created women's affairs section, which under her leadership became the Office of Women's Affairs, later the Office of the Status of Women. After resigning from the public service she became a journalist and a writer and is the author of five novels.
