Margaret Sault

Born and raised on the Six Nations of the Grand River until she was eighteen, Margaret Sault married and was transferred by Indian Affairs into the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, where she lived and raised her family. Margaret has worked with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Council since 1977 and currently serves as the Director of Lands, Membership and Research. She presents frequently to non-Indigenous peoples and has developed educational materials, including booklets and a video, on the history of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Margaret was also part of the negotiating team that resolved four land claims and served for two years (2015–17) as a councillor. In 2009, she completed a Personal Support Worker Certificate from Mohawk College to be able to care for her aging parents, and continues to work part-time as a PSW in Six Nations. Margaret has three adult sons and is ‘gramma’ to five grandchildren, the position that is dearest to her heart.
