A Tale of Instability in Seven Parts
Monsters
From: On Opium
$1.40
The author describes what suffering does to her body and mind and how the effort required to transcend it makes her feel like a monster. While her condition allows her to walk and run but not stand or sit it is difficult for others to understand that she is dealing with a disability. As an opiod user she and others are made to take on the stereotype of the junkie, the monster who is not to be trusted, and instead is quarantined, killed, institutionalized, silenced.
