From: Tar Sands Showdown

$3.80

This chapter discusses the convergence of three global and potentially deadly crises with implications for the development of the tar sands: (a) peak oil: the end of cheap, abundant supplies of oil as global demand outstrips supply; (b) climate change: global warming generated by the release of greenhouse gases, mainly from the burning of fossil fuels; (c) water depletion: the rapid depletion and contamination of freshwater and other vital natural resources on the planet.
