Albert-Reiner Glaap

Albert-Reiner Glaap is a professor emeritus at Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf. He was awarded an OBE by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II in 1991 and was made an Honorary Member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada in 2006. His special fields of research are contemporary Canadian and British drama, the teaching of English as a Foreign Language, and the translation of literary texts from English into German. Recent publications include Performing National Identities: International Perspectives on Contemporary Canadian Theatre (co-edited with Sherrill Grace, 2003); Voices from Canada: Focus on Thirty Plays (2003); A Guided Tour through Ayckbourn Country (co-edited with Nicholas Quaintmere, 2nd rev. ed., 2004); and Contemporary Canadian Plays: Overviews and Close Encounters (coedited with Michael Heinze, 2005); as well as numerous articles in various scholarly journals, book publications, and theatre programs.
