The authors conclude with four lessons that have come from the global insurgency of the populist movement and how the movement has impacted democratic politics. The authors discuss the success of hate speech to win elections, the increase of populists in political parties, the populist movements impact on the left/right binary of politics and finally the populists impact on globalized neoliberalism.
Daniel Drache is professor emeritus of political science and senior research fellow at the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies at York University in Toronto. He is the author of over twenty books on social policy and international affairs. He lives in Toronto.
