Micheline Labelle is a Professor of Sociology at the Université du Quebec a Montreal. She is also the director of the Centre de recherche sur I'immigration, I'ethnicité et la citoyenneté and was holder and founder of the Chaire Concordia - UQAM en etudes ethniques (1993-1996). She has published widely on immigration, citizenship, the nation, and ethnocultural diversity. She is the author of Idéologic de couleur et classes socials en Haiti (1987). She co-edited Histoires d'immigrées. Itinéraires d'ouvrières colombiennes, haïtiennes, grecques, portugaises de Montréal (1987) as well as Ethnicité et enjeux sociaux.
