Decolonizing the North

From: Beyond Shelters

$2.20

Arlene Haché describes her personal journey from homelessness to leadership. She characterizes the disproportional representation of homeless Indigenous women requiring the services of the shelter she ran as a form of colonization. She analyzes how the Yellowknife Women’s Shelter addressed this phenomenon and how homelessness services should continue to develop in the North.
