Chapter seven of George Manuel’s biography covers 1968 and 1969, during which time he met and became involved with Marlene August. He was also offered a job working for Harold Cardinal in Edmonton in community development. He began connecting with and learning from other oppressed groups around North America, including Black Americans, and gained a broader view of colonial oppression. George’s son Arthur, at eighteen, joins him in Edmonton to work alongside him. George becomes involved in federal level consultations on Indian policies.
