In this foreword, Grand Chief Pierre Picard of the Wendat Nation traces the Wendat connection to the Toronto region, from ancestral villages along Lake Ontario’s waterways to the Confederacy between Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay, and weaves this Indigenous legacy with the city’s colonial heritage and a commitment to stewardship across seven generations.
