Gosselin v. Quebec (Attorney General), 2002
From: The Court and the Charter
$1.50
A majority of the Supreme Court of Canada held that a provincial social assistance scheme whose base payments to those under the age of 30 were lower than payments for recipients over 30 was not discriminatory on the grounds of age, and that the facts of the case did not warrant an interpretation of a positive state obligation to sustain liberty and security of the person.
