Hosanna!
Michel Tremblay's Queering of National Identity
From: In a Queer Country
$0.56
Elaine Pigeon’s "Hosanna! Michel Tremblay’s Queering of National Identity" treats the literary but also considers theatrical elements of Tremblay’s play. One central concern is the question of whether a minority can be hegemonic. Tremblay’s characters seem to thematize Quebec through sexual orientation, but many Quebecois sovereigntists have viewed homosexuality to be a particularly anti-national force. Still, perhaps in the twenty-first century, various liminalities are the ideal cultural forces.
