Nevin J. Harper is an associate professor in the School of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria, where he teaches group facilitation skills and nature-based approaches to counseling and youth work, and supervises student field practicums. His career has included stretches as a youth worker, educator, researcher, trainer, and guide in the realm of adventure education and outdoor therapeutic practices. Nevin is the founder of the Canadian Adventure Therapy Symposium and a founding director of the Child & Nature Alliance of Canada. He continues to research, write, speak, and publish on a range of outdoor approaches to human development and therapy and education.
Kathryn Rose has been discovering the joys of experiential and nature-based approaches to the promotion of individual and community well-being for over fifteen years. She has focused her passion on developing accessible nature based therapy programs for youth and families throughout the greater Victoria area and is co-founder of Human-Nature Counselling. She completed a master’s degree in Transpersonal Counselling Psychology, with a specialization in wilderness therapy, from Naropa University in Colorado and is registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. humannaturecounsell ing.ca
David Segal has been providing therapeutic nature-based counseling for children, youth, and families for over fifteen years. The wisdom and healing offered through connecting with the natural world that first drew him to this field continues to inspire him every day. He completed a master’s degree in Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria and is registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. David is the co-founder of Human–Nature Counselling, provides training and supervision for other counselors and youth workers, and has published articles in Ecopsychology and the International Journal of Child, Youth and Family Studies. humannaturecounselling.ca
