Chapter thirteen of George Manuel’s biography start with a family focus, with the birth of his second child with Marlene, and the involvement of his older sons in his Indigenous rights activism work. His sons became involved in more radical activism, which began to influence Manuel’s own work in that direction. Manuel also pursued international Indigenous organizing during this period.

Doreen Manuel (Secwepemc/Ktunaxa) comes from a long line of Indigenous oral historians and factual storytellers. She is an award-winning filmmaker and educator, the principal owner of Running Wolf Productions, and the director of the Bosa Centre for Film and Animation at Capilano University.
