From: Storming the Old Boys’ Citadel
$2.50
Part three of Saving a Grand Old Lady focuses on the life of Louise Bethune (born Jennie Louise Blanchard), one of the “exceptional women” admitted into the architecture profession during the twentieth century. This chapter focuses on the attempts to preserve and restore the surviving historical architecture of Buffalo after years of decline and frequent demolition of heritage sites. This chapter also includes interviews with the community members involved with the 43-Million-Dollar Restoration of the Lafayette Hotel, the last remaining building Bethune designed.
