The Politics of Power

A Wonton Attack on a Citizen's Reputation

From: Divided

$1.20

This chapter sets out to preserve a story that needs to be documented. Officials within the Saskatchewan government improperly accessed files containing unconfirmed allegations about a citizen, Peter Bowden, and then maliciously interpreted and surreptitiously shared those interpretations with the press. There were no consequences for anyone but Bowden; the former health care worker was unable to work in his field again. In the words of the author, he was “run over” by the actions of his government and left behind like roadkill; everyone else just carried on.
