Theater as Interaction and Identity Creation

High Status and Low Status Characters

From: The Power Manual

$1.10

Theater as Interaction and Identity Creation, explores the first of two social spaces that at their core are about the exchange of power — theater and games. Fundamentally, to act is to accept difference enough to engage in dialogue with another. Central to exchanges of power, particularly where there is perceived difference, is status. Improvisational theater — a form of live theater in which the plot, characters, and dialogue of a scene are made up in the moment — turns on understanding how to read, play, and shift status, which always drives the story forward.
