Barbara Korte
Barbara Korte is a professor of English literature at the University of Freiburg, Germany. She received her degrees from the University of Cologne and taught at the Universities of Reading (GB), Chemnitz, and Tübingen. She has worked on Canadian pioneer women, Margaret Atwood, and landscape poetry. Recent publications include studies of travel writing (English Travel Writing: From Pilgrimages to Postcolonial Explorations, 2000) and black and Asian British culture (Bidding for the Mainstream? Black and Asian Film in Britain since the 1990s, 2004). A major current interest is the cultural memory of World War I in Britain. She is editor of The Penguin Book of First World War Stories (2007).
