Which Side are You On? Marxist Praxis for Social Work
Section: Marxist Social Work
From: Critical Social Work Praxis
$2.40
This chapter explores how Marxist praxis enriches social work practice and obligates social workers to stand in solidarity on the side of service users, working people, and the exploited and oppressed. It addresses criticisms of Marxism, explores historical materialism and its relation to social work, and explains Marxist dialectical analysis and critiques of capitalism, among other topics. The author concludes that consideration of Marx by social workers must affirm and respect the humanity of people and the manifold forms of our social being.
