Environmental Jargon Creates Exclusion
From: Engage, Connect, Protect
$1.50
The author unpacks the ways in which common language and messaging of the mainstream environmental movement can unintentionally function to exclude people of color, especially those in the black and latinx communities. She explores the emotional impact of being on the receiving end of exclusive language, and in turn the environmental impact of unintentionally excluding people from caring about the earth.
