Maude Barlow is the national chairperson of the Council of Canadians. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honourary doctorates.Most recently she received (with Tony Clarke) the 2005 Right Livelihood Award given by the Swedish parliament and widely referred to as the Alternative Nobel. Maude Barlow is the author or co-author of fifteen books. Her most recent book is Too Close for Comfort: Canada’s Future Within Fortress North America,McClelland and Stewart, 2005.
