At its heart, the “Too Asian” controversy is about weighing the benefits to the community against the rights of the individual. That balancing act extends far beyond the campus, and will continue to trouble both Canada and the United States, as the disadvantaged of the two nations struggle to achieve more just, equitable, and democratic societies composed of diverse communities of people.
