We need innovative ways of embracing diversity, complexity, and cooperation. Some people have suggested we adopt a both/and way of thinking. In this framework, we assume the needs and perspectives of different parties are not necessarily in conflict. Using this approach allows us to embrace the perspectives of both sides and draw up a solution including elements of each. This kind of thinking shifts the emphasis from fighting to negotiating.
