Greening the Tax System
Chapter 6 deals specifically with environmental taxation. If major fiscal reforms are to be undertaken to deal with the crisis, this could be a strategic moment to implement a green tax shift. However, green taxation options need to be considered very carefully, and I examine some of the problems involved in implementing green taxation, in Canada and abroad.
BRIGITTE ALEPIN is a chartered accountant and tax specialist with a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. She lectures on taxation and has appeared as an expert witness before parliamentary committees probing public finance. She has been a tax columnist for CA Magazine and the Journal de Montréal.
