Tom Kent
Tom Kent was much involved both in establishing the Liberal Party’s commitment to medicare, and in its implementation, along with other social policies by the Pearson government, which he served as coordinator of programming and policy secretary to the prime minister. His other activities have included war-time intelligence service, newspaper editor, deputy minister, crown corporation president, royal commission chairman, and university dean. He is the founding editor of Policy Options, the journal of the Institute for Research on Public Policy, and is a lifetime fellow of the Institute, as well as a fellow of the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University. He is a companion of the Order of Canada.
