Judith Shamian
Judith Shamian, PhD, is currently the president and CEO of the Victorian Order of Nurses. She formerly held the title of executive director of Nursing Policy with Health Canada and is a professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She was also the president of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario from 1998 to1999. Dr. Shamian is best known for shaping and influencing health policy both nationally and internationally. She is the 1995 recipient of the Ross Award for Nursing Leadership, was awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 by the governor general of Canada, and is the recipient of two honorary doctorate degrees.
