In Chapter 5, Khasnabish examines the concept of the family– its structures and relations. Few other concepts carry as much weight in terms of signifying relations of mutual obligation, enduring connections, and emotional complexity. The chapter explores topics including the rules of kinship, social systems of power and privilege, social reproduction, and intergenerational trauma. It includes excerpts from Kelly Anne Malin and Élise Thorburn.
