Children continued to run away from the Mission through the first decade of the 1900s. In the summer of 1920 nine boys at the Mission grouped together and ate some poisonous water hemlock. One boy, Augustine Allan, died as a result, while the other eight survived. the school continued to defend its position and placed the blame on the Natives.
