Constructing a corpus is the first step in the process of building a terminological knowledge base (TKB). To do so, terminologists face the difficult task of finding informative domain-specific texts by searching through scientific journals, monographs, technical reports, user guides, and so on. In recent years, they have also begun to search on the Internet, which has presented itself as an invaluable source of text-based information in electronic form.

Barriè

Caroline Barrière obtained a PhD in computational linguistics from Simon Fraser University (Canada). Formerly a professor at the School of Information Technology and Engineering at the University of Ottawa, she now works for the National Research Council of Canada as a research officer at the Language Technology Research Centre. She has presented her work at numerous conferences and published a number of articles, including some in the journal Terminology. Her research interests include computational terminology and computer-assisted translation.
