The Changing Class Structure of Production Relations in the “Knowledge Economy”

Livingstone offers a brief critical assessment of recent approaches to class analysis and labour process analysis in advanced capitalism. An empirical assessment of continuity and change in this class structure is provided, based on the best available comparative data since the 1980s on employment relations in advanced capitalist economies. Other connections of employment classes with demographic features, working conditions, intergenerational mobility wealth and health distribution are briefly noted.
