The Oil Industry

Corporate Power and Oil Industry Regulation in Alberta

New!

From: Corporate Rules

$1.70

In this chapter, Nathan Lemphers looks at the overwhelming influence the oil industry exerts over Alberta, focusing on the history of the oil industry in the region and how it has shaped and influences almost all aspects of life in the province from politics, to education, to charities. Lempher argues that a closer examination of Alberta’s particularly congenial relationship with oil and gas companies yields useful insights on how to work against it and challenge this monopoly these companies hold over the province and Canada as a whole.
