The Shuswap Response to Colonialism
From: Victims of Benevolence
$0.48
Despite strong opposition, the Shuswap people were forced to adopt the colonial way of living. They were pushed out of their home and discouraged to practice sacred rituals. Ultimately, in 1891, the first residential school was established in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region, which would impact the lives of generations to come.
