Julia Zarankin's stories and essays have appeared in PRISM International, The Threepenny Review, The Antioch Review, The Dalhousie Review, and The Globe and Mail. She was awarded first runner-up in PRISM’s nonfiction contest, longlisted for a CBC Literary Award, and recently awarded a residency at the MacDowell Colony. In her former life (which ended in 2008), Julia worked as a Russian literature professor at the University of Missouri. Now she lives, writes, and watches birds with gusto in Toronto.
