Jon Thompson

JON THOMPSON is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of New Brunswick. He is a former Chair of the department and a former President of the faculty union at UNB. He chaired the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee of the Canadian Association of University Teachers from 1985—88. He was a co-author or author of three reports on academic controversies: “Integrity in Scholarship” (with Harry Arthurs and Roger Blais, Montreal: Concordia University, 1994); The Olivieri Report (with Patricia Baird and Jocelyn Downie, Toronto: Lorimer, 2001); and No Debate: The Israel Lobby and Free Speech at Canadian Universities (Toronto: Lorimer, 2011)

James L Turk

JAMES L. TURK is the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers. He has written extensively on education, academic freedom, civil liberties, commercialization, and related public policy issues. His has edited a number of books, including Universities at Risk, Free Speech in Fearful Times (with Allan Manson), Disciplining Dissent: the Curbing of Free Expression in Academia and the Media (with William Bruneau), and The Corporate Campus. Jim is Adjunct Research Professor at the Institute of Political Economy at Carleton University and a member of the Executive and of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
